Meade County Schools is proud to announce the expansion of its School Resource Officer (SRO) team to four full-time officers serving students across the district. This marks a significant increase from 2020, when just one SRO was assigned to the entire school system.
This expansion reflects Meade County Schools’ continued commitment to ensuring safe, supportive learning environments for all students and staff. It is made possible through strong partnerships with the Meade County Sheriff’s Office and the Brandenburg City Police Department, both of which have played a key role in strengthening the district’s safety efforts.
SRO Assignments:
Meade County Sheriff’s Office
Two SROs employed under the leadership of Sheriff Phillip Wimpee
One officer will be assigned to Meade County High School, serving approximately 1,550 students
One officer will serve the four county elementary schools, which have a combined enrollment of approximately 1,250 students
Brandenburg City Police Department
Two SROs employed by the City of Brandenburg under the direction of Chief Brian Haag
One officer will be stationed full-time at Stuart Pepper Middle School, serving approximately 800 students
One officer will rotate between David T. Wilson Elementary and Barry Hahn Primary, which together serve approximately 1,200 students
This structure ensures equitable safety coverage throughout the district, with officers assigned to serve similar-sized student populations at each site.
